Ian writes:

Weather deteriorating I climbed up into the gloom. The vigorous activity was a contrast to the excessive gorging and the associated drowse that me and Rob had indulged in for the better part of the day. On and up into the gloom until lo! And behold I was standing on a clear summit whilst cloud drifted in the lower corries depositing their loads in a spectacular display of flash flooding... I was glad to be above!

The rain started in earnest on the next 3 summits so I wasted no time in descending to the black glutinous bogs below. This sapped my strength until climbing the dreaded slopes of Lurg Mhor I was all but spent. Rocks loomed from the misty gloom rising like spires in some gothic nightmare.

At last the summit! Energy came from the depths of despair and I sped over Bidean … With a night section looming I used all my energy reserves to get over Beinn Tarsuinn not before gambling on a line off the end of Bidean … jackpot, I was down in 10 minutes.

I took a kind of obscene pleasure in handing the baton over to Ed who headed off into the flickering gloom of encroaching night!
