Ian writes:

Bleary eyed and stiff I plodded up onto Meall a' Bhuiridh for what seemed like an eternity. Up into the gloom to find the summit where a clammy wet cairn welcomed me and recorded my endeavour. A quick bite and then on through the grey to Clach Leathad and the shoulder of Stob Gabhar was grassy and undulating and my limbs were moving more freely now that my chains were seemingly broken from the burden of fatigue. Off the ridge I plunged and down to stare into the inky blackness of Coirein Lochan.

The plod up to Stob a' Choire Odhair I had previously dismissed as an afterthought, but now turned into a major grind with joints creaking and groaning as I toiled up. A fine view awaited me at the top and elated I sped off down to the col and bounced up to Stob Gabhar only to be overcome by the familiar slow relentless plod after 200 ft.

The 2 mile ridge beyond 'Goat's Mountain' was a delight and was like running a causeway across my sea of despair. Revered and refreshed I darted off down to hand the baton over to John.

Munroists might notice the absence of reference to Creise in Ian's account. None of us knew it yet, but Ian had missed it out.
