Rob's athletic efforts gave me resolve … tired or not I was going to finish this one. Lolloping strides had me gasping for air but I pushed on regardless. At last the summit ridge where I opened out and rather enjoyed striding along with occasional glimpses down into the black depths where the ebony lochan was cradled in the arms of hell. A beautiful undulating grassy ridge was followed by a short sharp ascent up a rocky knoll to the summit.

My blood was up as I went chasing after time down to where the stopwatch was ticking in the waiting van. Grassy undulations went on for a seeming eternity until over the brow there it was … A long even steep grassy slope falling to the blue pinpoint of the van below. I gave what I had left on the descent and dived from a bank without touching tarmac into the gaping hole of the side door of the van to be sped off at high velocity to Alwyn's starting position … the keen eagerness on his face showed I couldn't have arrived soon enough.
