This was a hot leg and after a fast start over the Cairn Mairg range Craig appears to have suffered, possibly from the heat, but the very rough heathery terrain crossing to Schiehallion, added to the infamous boulders on the summit ridge must have been agony with it being only 3 days since he suffered huge trauma to his ankle.

The swelling still extended right up to his knee and the leg was multicoloured. Craig had been spending every possible waking moment immersing it in cold water with immense success as his times had shown ever since the accident.
