We'd just arrived at Corran ferry for the earliest possible time (we thought) for the baton to return from Mull, when we saw the car being loaded onto the ferry on the far side, luckily I'd kitted myself up ready back in Fort William. When the car arrived Tony whisked me down to the start via a few false starts up some private roads!

It was a warm still, showery day and as I climbed through the forest I was soon soaked in sweat and dew. In places the forest track had been washed away by flash floods, incredible damage/force.

On leaving the track, a path climbed through recently felled trees, slow and difficult going, at last I broke free, but it didn't feel any better! Last night's excursion to Ben Hope was making itself felt.

On top the rock was greasy, the ridge more difficult than I remembered it in winter, funny I'd enjoyed these hills before. True the views were superb, however the prospect of the descent loomed closer.

From Sgorr Dhearg I continued along the ridge, then set off down before the col, awkward scree runs and steep bouldery grass followed, a dislodged rock bent my thumb back, it was horrible.

Eventually down I could see no sign of the path to Glen Creran, but once into the forest a good path/track led swiftly with throbbing thumb to the changeover.
